CELEBRATE FREEDOM! cblessum on 7/2/2008
Happy 4th of July to everyone...this morning I was thinking of how grateful I am for the freedom of living an enjoyable, healthy lifestyle. I'm sending you my thoughts about the freedom I found at Weight Watchers - I wrote this last May when WW asked for success stories from staff members.

FREEDOM!! While losing over 70 pounds, I am happy to report I have also gained. Gained what? Freedom. If I could describe in one word or less what I’ve found since I joined Weight Watchers on July 16, 2003, it would be freedom. It is one of the best things I’ve ever done and I want to share it with others. There’s nothing like watching other people reach their personal goals and realize they can obtain and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Of course, I had my doubts. I’ve tried MANY other “diets”…anything will work for a while. But how long can you stick to the crazy rules? Not long enough, and certainly not for a lifetime! Through Weight Watchers I have learned what true freedom is – not depriving myself of the things I love, having more energy to get more accomplished, and finding exercise that I enjoy and look forward to. I have never found an easier way of losing weight and maintaining it - I love the simplicity and reality that Weight Watchers brings.

In my first meeting I watched someone receive a Lifetime award and knew this was for me. Seeing the numbers go down on the scale gave me another boost. I looked forward to my meetings each week to get motivation, ideas, and recipes. I would hear phrases that would stick in my mind, such as, “Remember the BLTs” (bites, licks and tastes). Even now as I’ve maintained for two and a half years, the things I’ve learned come back at a time I need them most.

I started working for Weight Watchers when I reached Goal and it has been amazing. One of the best ways I stay motivated is by watching our members have success. It brings me back to the weeks I was losing weight and how it felt to reach a certain milestone. It is so rewarding to see the changes in attitude, the physical changes, and most of all the confidence boost that members receive. I love watching members receive encouragement from other staff and members.

So again, it all comes back to freedom. Finding out that even while losing the weight, you have gained so much. But this time you’re happy for the gain!
